How to find a comment on a YouTube video
- Copy the video link from the address bar or the Share button. Links to Shorts and live streams work too.
- Paste it above and press Search comments.
- Type a word or phrase. Matches are highlighted as you type.
- Narrow down with minimum likes, a date range, or questions only, then sort by newest, oldest, most liked or most replies.
- Click View on YouTube to open the comment in its thread.
Why your browser’s find function misses comments
YouTube loads comments in small batches as you scroll, so a find-in-page search only sees the ones already on screen. This tool asks YouTube for the whole comment list in one go, so you can search it all at once.

Questions
Can I search the comments on any YouTube video?
Yes, on any public video or Short that has comments turned on. Private videos and videos with comments disabled return nothing.
Does it include replies?
Not yet. The search covers top-level comments, which is where giveaway entries, questions and most discussion live.
How many comments can it search?
Up to the newest 3,000 top-level comments per video. If a video has more, the page tells you that the limit was reached.
Can I search for comments by a specific person across YouTube?
No. We deliberately only work one video at a time and do not build profiles of commenters.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no login and nothing to install.
